Got in a fight defending my wife today.

Hmm.. Trying to absorb some of this but im not geared that way. Either its a non serious situation I can walk away from or talk my way out of or its serious and the gloves are off. If I'm worried enough to resort to violence in real life then I'm on the attack unhook they stop being a threat. Its not being macho look how tough I am but simple survival.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

In my experience, witnesses are highly unreliable, and often see what they want to see and remember stuff that did not happen. Also, equal force may not be a consideration in your jurisdiction, and getting out of your car might be construed as complicity in the ensuing altercation. How the responding officer interprets things has a far more profound impact in the aftermath than anything any witness says.

He was in front of me, and other cars in traffic were blocking the exit. That'd have been sweet. had I been armed with a firearm, I'd have calmly stayed in the car and watched what he did, as me and the wife both would have been armed. As long as no weapons came out nothing would have happened. Honestly, I found myself avoiding much more trouble when I was armed.

Unless you demolish the guy you will allways take that emotional hit. Same as if you de escalate a situation. (Primal I guess) realise it is normal just like being tired or or angry or any other feelings you get though the day.

Not getting hurt and not hurting him is the best outcome if you want to spend your time out of court. (Which sucks even if you are the innocent victim)

Otherwise I find some sugar helps afterwards. Go buy yourself a coke or something.

I do tend to give the guy a little slap from my hands down first as they come into range and then put my hands up. Usually gives me a free shot.

^This is terrifyingly true. One of my University dissertations was about the reliability of eyewitness testimony. You may as well throw darts at list of what they might have seen.

Less interestingly, one of my other disertations was about supermarket own-brand cornflakes. No joke.

At least you show quite a variety when choosing topics. I'd love to read the one about eye-witnesses :)
