I'm a little surprised at the number of people who seem to think honking their horns is somehow out of line when this dude was obviously already spoiling for a fight. A horn is there for a warning when people do stupid **** in their cars, it isn't a ram bar and it doesn't set people's grandmothers on fire.
Honking your horn isn't any more out of line than wearing a mini skirt, or walking down an alley. You have every right to do both.
Unfortunately, the world is full of shits, and any of the above increase your risk of interacting with them.
