Yeah, and honestly, if he is as good as a teacher should be, he should know better! Ground and pound after the ko is really stupid!

It is really shitty that they used the whole thing to go against MMA, but I'm not surprised.

I really don't see how they can draw a parallel from a guy beating someone to death in a barfight and an organized and regulated event. Exactly what level would that town propose going to?? Maybe they will arrest people on suspicion of knowing martial arts. Yet I bet it's perfectly legal to buy a knife there.

Read the article. Don't you see MMA is a step away from the Gladiator Days.

What better way to get votes than to pander to ignorance, fear of the new and irrationality of people.

Sounds to me like it ended up being more of a witch hunt than political maneuvering. The city council voted against banning MMA, but the community petitioned and forced their hand.

I agree with your underlying point, though... This whole thing was a classic example of how the democratic system can work for special interest groups, while working against others. There's obviously not enough people in that community that want to fight for their right to practice MMA. If this had happened somewhere else, like Las Vegas for instance, you would have probably had people flying in to petition against a decision to ban MMA.

This is why MMA is useless in the street. The guys don't know what to do without a ref.
