Yeah, that really sux! The fighter knows better. He should have better control over himself! Actions have consequences! No one wins in this situation! Sad waste of two lives!!
Combatives training log.
Gezere: paraphrase from Bas Rutten, Never escalate the level of violence in fight you are losing. :D

The timeline and idiocy that ensues is embarrasing. One guy is an idiot, another loses his life and a bunch of asswipes blame all of MMA in general. -

Actually this is really interesting and disgusting:
The Mayor used it as a platform to suspend and get MMA banned.

They proposed two changes:"I'm not a big fan of ultimate fighting. What's the next thing, gladiators? I don't know," Mayor Gary Williams said.
Williams says MMA fans in the stands, who get worked into a frenzy by the fights, often take their aggression into the streets, leading to a spike in assaults. His office has been flooded with calls about the matches in Watertown.

They put it to a City council vote:The city council is considering two ordinances that would impact the fighting events. One would ban them. The other would impose regulations that include getting a permit and requiring a physical examination of fighters before and after the event.

A petition for a public vote was signed and MMA was banned:The City Council voted 5-3 earlier this month to allow MMA events, a form of fighting entertainment some label as barbaric. MMA opponents submitted more than enough petition signatures to force a citywide vote, and the council on Monday night voted to put the matter on the ballot June 21.

The vote was 1,228 in favor of the ban, and 841 against it.
This comes after months of controversy, following a mixed martial arts instructor being arrested in March on murder charges -

Apparently, and according to investigators, he did not stop beating the victim even after the victim fell unconscious.
It's one thing to defend yourself against attack, thwart the attacker, and contact authority figures... It's an entirely different thing to beat someone unconscious and continue beating them UFC style with no ref. to break it up. -

For all they know the guy might have thought he was still conscious or getting up or got beat up trying to knock him out.
I've personally been in a situation where I've choked a person unconscious and got really angry because I got bruises and blood on me while the other guy is unscathed. In the few times that has happened to me, I also beat the guy up even though he was unconsious and unable to defend himself(which was my intention in the first place), just to even the score. No one made a big deal out of it.
Although now that I think of it, it does seem stupid. But still.
Okay. Maybe I'm biased because I've done the same. You have a point. Argument conceeded. Shutting up now.
