**VIDEO** Rock N' Roll Escape by Marcos Avellan

It's been a while... but I'm back! I had twins right before Xmas
and it has taken me about a month to finally get back to making
videos again :)

This video is one of my favorite escapes from the sidecontrol
over-under pin. When I'm facing someone with a really strong pin
and can't free either of my arms or turn to my side, this technique
has proven very reliable for me as a last ditch technique.

Cool, I now know what I've seen some other guys attempt to do (much failure). I personally go crossbody and attempt to isolate the far arm for a kimura/americana/armbar combo. Do you find any problem with this or does it just open up your ability to gain guard?

Congratulations on the kids.

This is a similar motion to my favourite arm triangle escape so easy to remember. Have you had any issues with the spine lock from here? The one where your opponent releases your inner arm and grabs your inner leg as your legs swing up.

Omega Supreme, I personally prefer cross-body, but I do use the over-under tie up from side when I pass with the knee cut across because it is a smooth transition from the pass. However, once I secure the pin, I usually switch to cross-body. Some guys like to go for submissions and stuff from the over under hold but I personally don't.

mrh80, thanks for the congrats! Are you referring to the infamous "Bas Rutten" neck crank? If yes, that is with the head and arm, without the head, I don't think you would be able to put enough pressure on the spine.

Hey Marcos, thanks for the vid.

I've seen something similar with gi grappling, except you reach under your own raised leg and grab the top guys collar at the back of the neck. But I've always used the wrong leg and tried for the sweep instead of just making space.

Yes this is the one I have been caught with and assumed it was possible from the modified scarf hold. I will get someone to try this variation on me and test it out.

Note to self assume less, try more.
