Just got done watching the fight again. Ref actually said "it was an honor guys". Diaz was genuinely surprised about the decision.

It sounded like his corner kept telling him that he was winning all the rounds (or that he was up 3-1 or something, I need to rewatch the fight,) so I'm not surprised that he thought he was winning.

Diaz's bitching after the fight reveals this tidbit-

"It ain't right. I pushed him back the whole fight. I walked him down. I got the takedown. I'm the guy who won on top. If I thought I wasn't ahead, I bet you anything I would have finished that armlock."
Emphasis mine. So where's all the pissing and moaning about Nick Diaz figuring he can just ride out a decision instead of going for the finish?

I'd bet a lot of the backlash is because this fight was hyped as world war 3, and instead was a textbook example of what happens when you can't adapt.

If that's the kind of fight you want to watch, by all means. I prefer for fighters to actually "fight".
Nah. Anyone with a chin somewhere in the "mortal human" range would have gone down from the strikes Condit landed. Punches, head kicks, elbows... and lots of them. Diaz was beaten. He's just too stubborn to let his body acknowledge it.
There are no wrong threats, only wrong answers. (Strategy game truism)

I would just like to co-sign on this. We really, really don't need another negative portrayal.

Also, I was very impressed by Fabricio's striking abilities. I genuinely did not expect him to beat Nelson on the standup, those knees were devastating.

Yeah, that statement in bold made me rewatch the fight. He didn't have the armlock.

Diaz vs Condit: Meh could've gone either way.
Nelson vs. Werdum: Is Nelson made from memory foam? That guy just doesn't fall down.
Renan vs. Jorgeson: Nice I like Renan's future in this sport, Scott's a tough guy.
Herman vs. (stereotypical wreslter guy): Duh result obvious.

Diaz dropped the ball, and is unstable with some seriously warped perspective.

That said, the problem in this sport is NOT guys who fight like Diaz. It's guys who fight like Condit (did), Rashad (often does), and Shields (always has).
