I remember hearing something about the training itself being conducted by a designated chief instructor in Narita because the current soke has some health problems.

May I ask, are there any authorised branches of this ryuha in Europe training under designated instructors?

I'm not going to start a pointless discussion on the politics or lineage wars which exist, suffice to say there are a considerable number of people who CLAIM to teach TSKSR than are actually both qualified and authorised to do so.

Here is the list of authorised teachers who are actual members of the Ryu in Japan, from this list you're able to make contact with a regional teacher outside of Japan.

Thank you for the list. It's nice to see that many people having teaching certificates outside Japan (or at least much more than I thought there would be).

Also, Koryu.com lists the official headmaster as Iizasa Yoshisada, 20th generation. After some more reading, I also verified that the current chief instructor is indeed in Narita, and that he also taught Donn Draeger.

On a side note, their curriculum is impressive. They even have something called chikujojutsu,
which (and correct me if I'm wrong, my Japanese is amateur at best) means working with fortifications, and also something to do with in and yo (which is yin and yang in Japanese, if I remember correctly).

Thanks for this. I shall watch it a bit later as I've trying to watch BBC4 with Saul David on Military Logistics. It looks rather good - and I've read his "Victoria's Wars" previously.

I had most the BBC series "Way of the Warrior" taped by my sister-in-law (I didn't have a video of the time). Now I've a complete copy of the series on DVD somewhere...
