He stepped up boldly a long time ago, failed in the most public way, but stuck to martial arts at the same time as he made sure to learn from his mistakes rather than steep himself in excuses and rationalisations, which would be a very human (though unfortunate) thing to do; and he stepped up bravely again. And won, at 53. Even regarded purely as a fighter the man deserves plenty of respect. And I can't think of any better measure of a man than what he makes of his mistakes.
