I was able to ask him some clarifying questions about the Junior Olympic thing, and it was clear that the 1988 games could not be the ones he referenced as he recalled them being in the North East (the '88 games were in Lawrence, KS). The only games taking place in Coach Everidge's teen years in the Northeastern US were the '87 games in Syracuse, NY, and, again, there is no record of his participation. He agreed to provide documentary evidence of his medalling at silver, and I look forward to seeing what he provides.

Given coach Everidge's position as state wide director of USA Wrestling's Sombo activities for the entire state of Ohio, I think it is important that he have all his ducks in a row as regards his resume, as well as his statements about Sombo governance, safe practice for junior players, etc.
Well that kind of refutes this from his bio:

As the State Director of Sombo in Ohio, Coach Everidge is responsible for any and all matters related to the art in Ohio including, rules, tournaments, and alike.
Any idea what year is the gold medal at the nationals he refers to in his bio? I don't have his name in my archive, though it is admittedley not complete and does not include youth divisions.

Over the past 21 years Coach Everidge has a multitude of accomplishments to his credit. Among these are several Six Regional Sombo Championships, a Silver Medal in the Junior Olympics, and a Gold Medal in the National Sombo Championships.

I see there are other "Junior Olympics" that have been held. So far, I have not found his name in the 1987 or 1988 events. Yes, I have been checking EVERY event not just wrestling.

The link to the past results for 1987 brings up exactly the same page as I looked at earlier. I don't think there is actually more than one AAU Junior Olympics.

Let me be clearer. I am checking the AAU results, but there are other orgs that call themselves "Junior Olympics" as well. I am going through every event through the years around his claims concerning AAU because of his word. We may need to look at other "junior Olympic" outside of the AAU.

I don't know much about this topic but if he implied it was located in the northeast it may have been a regional event rather than the national "Junior Olympics".

EDIT: Why not just ask him to provide the documentation or the exact name/location/date/organization and it might help you narrow your search to confirm it?

You missed the post where someone called him and tried to narrow down the information didn't you?

He agreed to provide documentary evidence of his medalling at silver, and I look forward to seeing what he provides.
Yes, this post is in this thread and it is also quoted.

Please read the thread all the way through. There is a second thread on the site too you may want to read.

    Got it.

There is a "Junior Olympic" event that took place in Calgary, Alberta in 1988. Not exactly north east of Kentucky, but...

Let's not forget that he started when he was 16 in 1988. Which means in '89 he may have also competed (Don't ask me I know absolutely **** about Junior Olympics)
