    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    PMA apologist

Was doing some searching on PMA and ran across the long and extremely incorrect rants on PMA. I have been working with PMA for awhile now and can give you the parents view of whats happening there. The system is quite sound in doing what I think it's basic premise is, building confidence in people that they can do martial arts and introducing them to multiple styles. The instructors are very good and they do a great job with young students. There was a whole line a crap about BJJ.. relax there is now a Second Degree BJJ instructor from Brazil no less. Daniel Tavares,, check the PMA site. He is am awesome instructor and school would be lucky to have him. As for disparaging the style of Kajukenbo... do some research before you talk. Sigung Casey (6th Degree) has Kajukenbo lineage though Professor Larson, Grand Master Heuer, Jon Loren, etc... Which all trace back to Sijo Emperado. So he is legit. If you really want to find out about the school drop by and participate. Want to question results... I think it was 14 students that went to the Pacific Jewel last year and came out with 30+ trophies. These ranged from forms to sparring and ages 6 - 18. So they are competent in martial arts. Now... styles... there are multiple styles in the PMA system and they are the basis of PMA. The owners offer Kajukenbo, Tai Chi, BJJ & Krav Maga for those who want more. If you are jealous because they have a successful business... sorry. If you want to see them in action stop in I am sure you will see good things. So... stop whining...

If you don't like a school then you don't like it. If you want to humorously bash a school with a little "OMFG LOL", that's one thing; but you're trying to tear down a school with an apparent reputable instructor. Now if you guys want to be pretentious and elitist, again that's up to you, but you don't have to be colossal pricks about it.

For the record if you have a problem with it I'll be at the Mega Throwdown in Boston this year. You guys are more than welcome to fly over and teach me a lesson.
Feel free to not be a ignorant hypocrite.

I know it's all the way at the top of the page, five whole posts up, but your original post is completely unedited, in all of its irrelevant and out-of-date glory. Read more, post less.

This thread may be of intrest to you OP.

    PMA is like PMS, right?
Considered in the abstract the boxing ring is an altar of sorts, one of those legendary spaces where the laws of a nation are suspended: inside the ropes, during an officially regulated three-minute round, a man may be killed by his opponent's hands but he cannot be legally murdered. Boxing inhabits a sacred space predating civilization; or, to use D.H. Lawrence's phrase, before God was love. If it suggests a savage ceremony or a rite of atonement it also suggests the futility of such gestures. For what possible atonement is the fight waged if it must shortly be waged again... and again? The boxing match is the very image, the more terrifying for being so stylized, of mankind's collective aggression; its ongoing historical madness.
