I'm glad I hadn't read this thread a couple of months ago before I got pulled by the California Highway Patrol - I'd have been shitting myself.
As it was I think my jolly English accent and his response "Oh, you're going to that martial arts thing right?" were enough to ensure I could continue my journey on I8 without any unwanted bullet holes. I did get out of the car straight away when I stopped though - apparently not a wise thing from what I've just been reading.
I always get out of the car in the UK, although the worst we usually expect over here is a patronising lecture and maybe a £30 fixed penalty ticket. Not being from a gun culture meant I never even considered I could be making the CH cop edgy enough to pull his gun on me.
I've never had a gun pulled on me. I'd probably have cried. -

Proper procedure when a UK LEO pulls you over is probably to adjust the hairpiece and smile for the camera - seems like every traffic cop these days is being trailed by a film crew shooting one of these:
Traffic Cops
Motorway Cops
Brit Cops
Road Wars
Police Camera Action!
Cop Squad
Police Stop!
Police Interceptors
etc etc
US readers interested in how the UK police goes about its business may find this of use. -

Yeah, that cop has some issues! He flew off the handle like a little bitch! Even though the driver probably was picking up a prostitute, he did the exact right thing in thus situation. He didn't let the cop bow him up, which is what he was trying to do so that he would have an excuse to toss the guy.
Combatives training log.
