I can't believe I forgot Takase. A losing record, but several epic wins.
You're thinking of Mark Hall, a Moo Yea Do stylist. He was 35 years old when he started fighting in the UFC and was always outweighed, sometimes by over a hundred pounds. He compensated for those deficiencies by being extremely tough. There's one old UFC fight with a Korean stylist punching Koji Kitao in the nose, causing him to quit Bob Sapp style. I couldn't find it on youtube though.
Besides the Kitao fight, he whooped Harold Howard and had a trilogy of fights with Don Frye. In the first fight he survived ten minutes and broke Frye's orbital bone with short punches from the bottom. He entered the second fight with injured ribs but still managed to last five minutes. In the final fight, his manager made him throw the fight so Frye would have an easier time with Tank Abbott.
Hall was also beaten up in a streetfight by Ken Shamrock. -
