LA Noire is all pomp and no circumstance IMO. There are a ton of cool things, but it wears off and gets extremely repetitive IMO.

One that seems to get slept on is Crysis 2. It is beautiful, almost as fun as a Modern Warfare game and highly accessible. You do not need to play the first one to play the second game.

Oh and he is right, that Walking Dead Episode game is fun.

Just got done playing Chrono Trigger now on to Secret of Mana
yes I do know what year it is and sad to say most of the newish RPGs just don't quite tickle me the way the old school ones do. Also you know emulators roms and the what not are well more cost effective.

This right here. It is currently pretty much the only game on my radar. Bought it on preorder the first day I could so I can have original X-Com hair. X-Com and Syndicate still get installed and played via DOSBox every couple of years. I don't think I've owned a computer yet that hasn't had them installed. (Except for my first one, which couldn't play them.)

They've already reportedly bunged up Syndicate. If they screw this one up, too, I swear to god I'm going to end up going to jits with red puffy eyes from the crying. This is my effing childhood we're talking about here.

Just finished FF8. I remember hating the characters the first time around, but that was most likely due to also being an angsty wad of teenager myself at the time. I liked it a lot better on the later go-around, although actually paying attention to junctioning and the card game made the actual gameplay pretty easy. And it has one of the best, if not THE best, soundtracks in the entire series.

    It's deliberate.

While I enjoyed playing them, and am quite intrigued by the new one (is it out yet?), I thought the combat was far too easy with pretty basic stealth play that was rendered pointless by the afore-mentioned combat.

I like AC, but the combat is far from stellar.

Unless you consider "hold block counter counter counter counter" stellar.

But the game doesn't punish me for it.

See, I know that there are other, more exciting ways to do combat in that game. I don't think the game encourages you to use them, though.

Well, I suppose I could call that a design flaw then. (not that most games don't have some exploit or another that can break the game if you abuse it).

But still - you're DOING IT WRONG GOD DAMMIT

    :)

uh dude i hate to break it to you, but they have made 5 x com games since the original, and they are for the most part crap. that ship has sailed.
