Two weeks ago I bought a Xbox, a Xbox 360 and over 100 games (including the complete series of Halo, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Battlefield 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Soul Calibur, DOA/Ninja Gaiden, Mortal Kombat, Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Need For Speed, Forza Motorsport, Grand Theft Auto).

Pro is that I feel like a little kid, while the cons are that gaming comes after work, girlfriend, studying (first ISTQB and then Mandarin), Combat Sports and the household.
So I can only game 3 to 4 hours on the Saturday, but it are some great 3 to 4 hours.

The only shame is that only Tekken 6 is available on the Xconsoles and I'm not crazy enough to buy a PS 1,2 and 3 just to play the complete Tekken series, although the thought crossed my mind for a split second.
Gears of War. 1-3. They are a blast. For an alien killing,shooting,chainsawing,curb-stomping good time?? they have to be top of the list lol.

Gears 1 and 2 are already in the collection, but I haven't played them yet. Still looking for a copy of Gears 3 on the second hand site (I scan every day for the new releases).

So many games, so little time. ;-)

Mighty ambitious endeavor there. What made you get all of that now, after 24 years? How do you plan to digest all of that material? What series are you starting with?

    I recommend Gears also.

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking for something new to get into.

Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but single player is shaping up alright so far. Good 'ol squad based tactics are back. You start out with a fair amount of points to spend on upgrades and powers, which is nice.

It was a combination of things:
    - I liked gaming on real Arcade machines and the consoles couldn't compete in graphics against those Arcade machines.
    - (Mainland) Europe was primairly more Sega than Nintendo at the time of the 8/16-bit consoles and I was more into Nintendo, making Nintendo games more expensive and more rare than Sega games.
    - Once Windows 95 came out, gaming switched to PCs, but I didn't like the controls on gaming PCs that much.
    - Life cought on, studying, working, girlfriend, household, etc...and gaming was sporadic at the best.

    Fast forward to 2011:
    - I threw all my PCs out and switched to Apple for home use, unfortunally finding games that run on Apple systems is almost impossible here. So if I wanted to game I would need a gamingconsole.
    - I had heard so much of Halo and Master Chief.
    - I always was pro Microsoft, just hated all the hardware crap of every manufacturar with their own standards and drivers, but the xbox's are "closed" systems.
    - Everyone of my friends that gamed and had multiple consoles preferedthe xbox.

So this year I did some time schedule planning and it freed several hours, so I started to look on second hand sites for game series and xbox's.

I can play 3 to 4 hours nonstop in that timeslot and since I don't own a Television subscription, all the extra free time (minus my other hobbies) can be used for gaming.

I've started with the Halo 1 on xbox and SoulCalibur 4 on 360.
Need for Speed (Underground 1) is a little dissapointing because the cars react too sensative when using the steering wheel, so I have to use the controller.

For X-Box, consider Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth.
    For X360, consider Deadly Premonition.

    Simply, exciting! :friends:

Also, IIF is right, old console hardware is extremely cheap these days. However, old games in playable condition are nearly not affordable, any more.

Like, I am still looking for a playable copy of FFVI and FFVII for the PS1, but please UNDER 100 €. For a game I can already play *for free* on the emulator on my mobile phone, prizes like that are simply obscene. :-(

There's someone selling Final fantasy 6 (PS1) for 10€, about 20 km from where I live.
I've send him a mail with the question, if he is still selling the game and can I watch a demo since I don't own a PS1.
He also has FF8 (15€) if you are interested?

I'll keep looking out for the FF7.

Hell yeah, that would be cool! Many thanks! :) The last *mint* copy I found on ebay this morning was at 75€. I won't play a sum like that for a game. Not because I couldn't afford it, or whatever, but simply because I think that's obscene.

What about the FF8? because that's with the same guy that sells the FF6?

I've found a copy of FF7 for 35€ + 2€ transportcost (inside Belgium),but that person lives 100km from me, so I can't visit for a demo and if he sends it, I can't test it because I've got no PS1,2 or 3.

I'll keep looking from day to day for when a copy of FF7 shows up in my area.
