    Russian Judoka Showing Off

Some serious skillz by various Russian Judoka.

Also notice the prevalence of 'classical' techniques and grips. People like to talk alot about 'Russian Judo', but the reality is that top Russian Judoka have beautiful 'classical' Judo and amazing technical skill from 'classic grips' as well as all the unusual and non canonical stuff they can do.

Learn basic classical/canonical Judo and then you'll be able to pull off the fancy 'Russian Judo' you see on the highlight reels.

    Bonus

Good question. I don't know. If you pause the video at the end and read the credits, it says the videos were produced by Ezio Gamba, who's the head coach of the Russian squad.

So perhaps its just for a bit of fun.

Maybe if someone knows how you would write 'Russian Judo Top Team' in Russian we could do a search and see if anything comes up.

If you have a keyboard with Cyrillic characters that is :)

Very good stuff, and incidentally I burn with jealousy whenever I see Russian training facilities.

No, I'm sorry, I will continue to teach "russian Judo" to beginners so that they may "dominate" other beginners in novice divisions.

Then I will brag about it on the Internet and try to get people to come to my technique clinics.

Do I feel the shadow of a portly rokudan being cast upon us...?
