    Is this guy's technique bullshine?

He has a whole bunch of vids showing technique that he claims is lerdrit. Can anyone confirm this?

What he is saying sounds ok, but when he demonstrates, it's not that impressive. I know MT peeps prefer not to lean back with round kicks and prefer to keep their body leaned in and C shaped but he seems to be leaning to the side really oddly with his head right out there to get hit. Also I don't buy his hopping through the air into what he calls the "down" kick, never seen anyone actually show it as a hop and seems a bit basic. Also, I think his angle at the end is kind of wrong for a leg kick (i.e. not quite kicking through the leg diagonally, but actually straight forwards, kind of swinging past the leg, which isn't optimal for the power generation). All in all, I think he'd be fine to train with but not necessarily a master. he gets some ok power going at the end. What do others think?

And what do you mean by "just a grappler"?

This thread is full of fail. I need actual answers as to whether the stuff he's teaching is "Boran/ Lerdrit".

I won't speak to the validity of his technique, but this dichotomy between "ring style" Muay Thai and "old" style is a bit disingenuous... Muay Thai has been a ring sport for hundreds of years.

Yes, if you are unsure about something you should ask a question regardless of what you train.

Sounds like one of those guys that comes here and argues about Muay Thai, Muay Boran, and all the little rare absorbed styles that existed in the past.

Been exposed to some Muay Chaiya/Boran here, but I'm hardly the best source of knowledge for this....but!

Here's what I think: He's full of ****. From what I can tell muay boran appears to have the same strikes as muay thai plus a few extras like the "double elbow" with deeper stances (horse-stance-y) and a lot of "I am now running on and up your body to do an elbow" with some fancy hand movements in between actually doing something.

That plus the kids and teacher clearly trained in it as an exercise in respecting roots and tradition and had no real value for it in the ring (duh) and never took it "full force" or anything like this guy is trying to pass off.

However! There is something to be said with his "Military Muay Thai" talk in the beginning and relating it to a change in style, as I have heard of and seen a book for a muay thai system used within the Thai Army that is supposed to be more similar to Chaiya/Boran than the common Muay Thai. It had a distinct name, though I forget it and the pictures it had two dudes in trad garb going at it. Didn't notice anything about changes in kicks (though it was in Thai so I'd really have no clue).
