Logan's Run, goddamnit! We need a cap on lifespan otherwise for every productive member of society there will be a shitload of old Joe and Jane's hooked up to life support and/ or clogging hospitals with ailments such as creaky knees and being tired (read: being old) that will prevent said productive young members from access to medical services in order to remain productive.

    ****, that's already happening.

Old people had their whole lives to prepare for getting old. Hopefully they didn't spend their youth drinking hooch and lighting their farts. Remember, young lazy dumbasses grow up to be old poor dumbasses.

Sorry but I didn't make a blanket statement , in point
of fact I pointed out that the crowd is much more diverse
    than he stated.

As for the oft refered to nebulous " they" , why the
folks actually pulling the strings and making the puppet
politicians dance. All in the name of extracting as much
money from the American consumer as they possibly
    can.

We can start with the banks if you wish and proceed
from there , we can start dismantling the current corrupt
regime and the previous ones as far back as you wish.

We can examine the basic economics of it all and the
manipulation of the futures market , along with the
attendant economic effects on *you* as a consumer.

THEY......hows about every poisonous porcine waste
of protoplasm feeding at the hog trough inside the Beltway
along with ALL the goddamned lobbyist and every fucking
corporation that BUYS what it wants. Monsanto , BP
    SmithField Foods , Dupont etc.etc.etc.etc.

All of 'em nose to tail in a frigging sordid brownnosed
    Moebius strip of freaking corruption.

But hey , folks can bitch and argue all they care to.The
reality is that those who want to see the bloated beast
that our govt has become collapse of it's own abusive
weight , well all they gotta do is stand back and let
things continue as they are currently proceeding.

As far as OWS , it will continue to grow , so will the
tension. The headbreaking has already started and as
has been previously pointed out it would take just a
few solitary idiots on either side to set the whole
    damn powderkeg off.

In point of fact I'll throw out an even bet that at
some point some form of limited martial law or the
equivalent will be discussed at some point.

Where you went to school speaks to your decision-making and it says something about how productive you were in your youth. If a person spent their late teens and early twenties at a top university, it at least shows you learned something in your formative years that helped you gain admission to that school, which is a plus.

It really does come down to productivity. One of my favorite things to do when conducting interviews is to look through candidates' resumes and compare what they were accomplishing over a given period of time. It's very telling. I see a ton of internal candidates who can't understand why they can't advance in the company. Usually it's because they half stepped throughout their life and they ruined their chance for advancement 15-20 years ago.

The formatting caused me to read this as a rap, complete with a techno beat, background vocals going "YEAH! THAT's RIGHT!" and some turntable scratching. It was kind of catchy, actually.

Wrong right from the jump. Have you got kids? If so have
you priced decent schools lately , priced an Ivy League school
    have you?

And there are one hell of a lot of good to great state schools
across this country that aren't " names". What school one attends
is often a function of finances.

Where we *are* in agreement is in the productivity factor , with
the caveat that I would tend to lend more credence to the individual
who busted their ass to work their way through a state school than
to the individual who sat back and let daddy pay his way through
Cornell , Rutgers , Stanford , Rice etc.

And frankly if I'm hiring someone it's about their character and
what they can *do* , I've seen a great many "educated fools"
over the years along with quite a few self educated geniuses.

Look we've got some point of agreement here , I just personally
think that it's rather shortsighted to offhandedly dismiss broad
sections of humanity based upon rather thin criteria.

Your utopian world where everyone is responsible , self sufficient
and productive is no less idealistic and unrealistic than the utopia
some of the OWS crowd seems to espouse.

Well I guess I could read it and attempt a very
poor imitation of Gil Scott Heron.

As an aside , many folks are familar with Dupont , Bp
Monsanto etc. but have never heard of Smithfield Foods.

Google 'em , be forewarned that afterward you'll be
looking at labels on pork products and tossing 'em back
    if it's a Smithfields company.

Number one environmental polluter in the country. You
never want to live downwind of one of their 30k hog
    operations.
