This sounds interesting. Either just out or coming soon --

The Demi-Monde: Winter by Rod Rees This science-fiction thriller introduces a disturbing virtual-reality world originally intended as a military-training ground and thus inhabited by virtual counterparts of some of history's most notorious and deadliest psychopaths. But this virtual playground gets frighteningly real when the president's daughter becomes trapped and the rescue team must avoid the virtual world "dupes" that are anxious to drain their real-world victims' blood.

is a link showing an Aikido sensei named Daniel Linden who's starting a new mystery series with an aikido master turned P.I. (named Parker, but who's derivative?). He's on Facebook, too, and gives his lineage there.

I finished "Third Man In The Ring" by Ruby Goldstein last night on my way back from a Trad Ju Jitsu Dan Grading (I was the Crash Test Dummy - Ouch! My poor Head!).

Ruby was also known as the "Jewel of the Ghetto" and eventually became a renowned Referee. I got it via the Internet from a bookshop in Galway (God, Love 'em).

I didn't know Ruby had written his autobio. A Good Read.

    Archie Moore is next...

I'm not familiar with Ruby Goldstein but I do remember Archie Moore. I always like wrestling better than boxing (more drama, more theater).

There's a really nice writeup about Ruby on Wikipedia.

What book search site do you use? I always recommend ABEbooks.com, which is composed of dealers selling their books, as opposed to a site like Ebay with all the amateurs.

I checked out the link. Waterstones is affiliated with Alibris, which is a large used book site and, at one time, was in contention with Amazon (guess who won?). ABE is based in Canada and is where most of us dealers in the US listed our books because it started as a professionally run site by book people (it's not quite as "bookish" as it used to be but still better than Amazon or Alibris or Ebay). Another really good site is Biblio.com, run by a guy who used to work for me in my bookstore. There's also a meta-search site: addall.com/used, which searches (lightly) about 20 or so sites around the world.

    And luck to you, too.

    Ever considering reading comic books/manga?

If you're into it, Naruto features XiYingQuan (performed by the Hyuga family- e.g. Neji and Hinata), five animal kung fu (erm..that would be Might guy and Rock Lee) and, of course, a good dose of elemental attacks performed by everyone.

And then...THERE IS THE CHI BALL TOO (aka rasengan) :P

Your flames of youth must be burning low indeed, if you cannot recognize that Gai-Sensei's taijutsu is in fact Jeet Kune Do! If I cannot convince you of this truth, I shall do fifty blurpees! And if I cannot do that, then I shall do 100 Hindu spuats! YOSH!

    Serious:
Anyone else tried the Sandman Slim series by Richard Kadrey? I have the first two books and they are great, reminds me a lot of Jim Butcher but with a much pulpier writing style and a darker attitude.

I liked Butcher and I have Kadrey on my TBR list. It took me a while to warm up to Butcher, so to speak, so we'll see how I do with Kadrey.
