Oh my stars! I've never heard any of this before!

You are going to lose people at statements like "I don't do aikido, but...." or that massive rant. Substance is good, but so is relevance. For someone who has 14 years experience in the martial arts, I would expect you to know better. Anyway, points about personal experience are fine, and interesting, in a comparative statement/argument. But hypothesizing and making authoritative comments about a subject you have little experience in is not a great way to be convincing (assuming the point of your post was to convince people about your beliefs on aikido). Has it occurred to you that people realize most gendai budo aren't primarily designed to make you a hardass warrior that can beat up every poor sap you come across? Arguing that aikido is a poor means by which to become a cage fighting warrior is kind of a moot point. Ueshiba literally designed his art of 'aikido' (after is was named aikido) it was literally deemed the 'art of peace' or the 'art of love.' There are MMA guys who ALSO train in aikido, but I doubt they think a reverse wrist lock takedown is going to give them many advantages in the ring....

Ill take a second to actually explain my martial arts background, I'm a Mixed Martial Artist. Yes I am an MMA fighter, but that is not a style or way of training. An MMA fighter is simply someone who competes in an MMA fight. I'm a Mixed Martial Artist before everything else
