When I tested for my Taekwondo black belt I had to learn 3 escapes from someone on top of me either trying to punch me or choke me with his hand around my throat. I later learned the same manuevers from BJJ friends. Like hook the leg and roll over, bridge over. This was before UFC was popular and BJJ was all the rage. What does this mean? I dont know...but taekwondo teaches superficial ways to escape from the bottom, because they did not train it live.

I had a dumbass TKD instructor try to come teach my student how to do a hip throw. After much back and forth argument I walked out in the middle of the floor dropped my blackbelt on the floor and told him to come take it from me or shut the **** up.

I'm sure if his knee was feeling better he would have done just that. Haha, the truth is there is no arguing with these people 95% of the time.
FACT- Eddie Bravo invented the triangle choke when he used it to tap out helio gracie at an ac/dc concert.

Mine was a WTF affiliated school and gave kukkiwon rank. But it turned into a mcdojang later but the instructor still was a good teacher. he also had a black belt in Judo/Jujitsu and Karate.
He taught some cool self defense techniques yet he did not train us live so we could not figure out if we could pull them off well because we were too busys parring full contact olympics.

haha I remember that. Olympic sparring is very serious to the people who train to go to the olympics.

The guy broke a toe, if I'm not mistaken, and was disqualified.

Imagine training for years with the olympic prize in mind. You get there and then get DQed and all the pain and emotions you put into it are futile. And there is no money in Taekwondo olympic sparring. I would be pissed too.
