    "Defensive" Push Kick vs. Teep

(Fast Forward to 5:53 to see what I'm talking about)

    (Of course, the teep)

The teep with the ball of the foot is quicker and easier to set up than the defensive push kick and I tend to default to it. The whole foot defensive push kick is quite powerful.

The only problem is that I'm having trouble setting it up when attempting to use it offensively.

    Any pointers Bullshido?

I mostly use it defensively as someone is stepping in, but you could change it a little to attack with it. To use it offensively, you'll have to be moving forward with it, not just standing there. You could use a half step forward with your back foot to get in a position to reach them, although for a brief moment you're in danger. I like doing this after throwing a cross that lands. If I'm going on the offensive I'm more likely to throw a back leg front kick though.

I don't buy your videos or else something is mislabeled. The fight video hardly seems defensive and it looks a lot like a teep.

I did put "defensive" in quote marks. In terms of defensive push kick, what I'm trying to say is a push kick that uses the whole foot instead of just the ball of the foot, like in the teep.

meh, too narrow a definition. You can teep with the whole foot if they get too close. Don't over think it. A teep is really just a front kick. It doesn't magically stop being a teep if you use your whole foot. There are two basic styles of teep one more pushing one more stabbing but most Muay Thai instructors don't differentiate them.
