I'm a little too broke to manage much in the way of donations but please keep us updated on the progress of the club Mordy. It sounds like an interesting and worthwhile effort. Especially let us know what'cha find on the indigenous fighting styles.

Please excuse the delay in updating this thread. Time is both fleeting and slothful out in the bush. Also, the bus from my village fell into a river and I had to hitch-hike into town in a canter-truck. So with that out of the way, I present the notes regarding the establishment and impressions from the first month of training in my village’s Physical Culture Club. I have taken some pictures of the boxing training which I upload soon (whenever that is) in my fight-blog. I will attempt to update the blog regularly (hopefully once a month) with news from the village Club and my own martial experiments’ results from the bush.
Here is the link to the blog’s main page:
And here is the entry for this month:
I am going around town for the next few days so hopefully I can respond to posts and update with photos shortly.

why not make them box to the body if you cannot afford gloves/mouthguards?
They could go pretty hard and not injury each other too much. Liver shots will also make them realize that drinking less will be good for them.

So some curious things happened since the last time I updated here. First of all let me just say thank you all for the continuing ideas. I've decided to adopt the idea that we can do sparring without hitting to the face. I've also gotten my hands on boxing gloves that I've been making my villagers wear for the sake of getting their muscles used to the weight of them. For a while we were using banana trees for heavy bags, which I thought was great at first but then some of the farmers complained to the village headman so we had to cut that out (we punched a couple down). To correct this issue we constructed and hung up a punching bag.
But about five weeks I came down with a serious stomach problem and had to be evacuated from the country to get medical care in the States. I was only medically cleared by my doctors a few days ago, so hopefully I'll be on my way back to Zambia soon enough.
