You mean Fedor? Ok, call me crazy, but hasn't he been subbed exactly once in his pro mma career of more-than-a-decade? I heard Werdum's grappling was pretty good, at least, that's how I read all the praise for his skills.
If I had to lay money, It'd be on Fedor in this, but anything can happen in a fight.
Not every fighter can go out as Joe Calzaghe...the friggin man, untouched by professional defeat, and clad in whitest linen. I'll watch Fedor fight into the Dan Severn years, if he wants to.
He's not Ken "beat-you-into-a-livin-death Sh4mrock, but a quiet humble guy, who has a passion for fighting. DW cares about legacy, because a boxercise history makes him insecure. Fedor is doing his thing, and always has. Fight. What made him great, is what keeps him going.
I'm going to enjoy this fight immensely. -

The one time in his career he faced a good bjj player he got subbed very quickly, as his defense consists of diving into an obvious baited trap head first. Regaurdless of his record, I'd call that a suspect defense. Of course, it also makes every fight he's in entertaining as ****.
Point being, though Monson is just a mid-carder at best, Fedor's style gives him a fair chance to win. Plus Fedor keeps looking worse, both in the cage and in general. Old and bloated + non existant defense + well known brawler style he refuses to vary + damage built up over the years = good chance for Fedor to lose to anyone even if they don't have the skill to beat a quality opponent.
And yeah, I always look forward to seeing Fedor fight. I've never understood how people can hate him and then bitch about guys like GSP and Fitch who don't even try to finish fights.Last edited by Super8astard; 10/23/2011 11:12am at .

I remember Nog's ground game in that fight being the "don't shoot" pose from his back with his head getting bounced off the canvas the majority of the time, with Fedor tearing his arm away from him a couple times. Fedor kept diving into him swinging away, and throwing him around a lot. Even if Fedor is just so bad-ass he made it look easy, which he is, his defense is still dive in and jerk away if they grab an arm.
Yes I am exagerating simply for the fact that Monson is likely to win because of Fedors style and not because of his own skill. -
