Hung Sparring Videos.

A good Czech Hung Ga school I came across...good, hard contact sparring videos.

IIF, this is a genuine question, not a flame or troll or anything:

Why did you think these vids didn't belong in the full contact thread? The contact level & intensity was a bit light in the second, but it looked fine in the first.

Was it because you didn't think it was recognisable CMA being demonstrated?

This is ok. I'm not sure i like the whole "I kicked you in the stomach, so now I can stop" quality of this sparring. It's happened enough that I think they actually think those kicks do more damage than they do. I think that style of sparring is a great way to go on the way to awesome, though. I'd prefer jackets, finger gloves and mats. But, this is CMA we are talking about... so there's got to be some wooden dummy in the background.

It's CMA in Eastern Europe though, they don't have that whole Karate Kid thing ruining their society's perception of martial arts. They're still training in case the Russians decide they want their land again.

Admitting that I could not force myself to watch the entire vid, I have to say this is not Hung Ga and would take a stretch to call it Kung Fu of any kind.

In fact, their lineage is:

Lam Sai Wing - > Lam Cho -> Lam Chun.

I am also from the lam lineage. My reasons are many but we can start with the gear that restricts the use and/or practice of 99% of hung fist techniques. Truthfully, it looks more like boxing practice than hung sparring.
I understand things have changed over the years, but there is simply no essence of hung in what I watched on that vid.

What do you see in there that reminds you of hung fist?
