Mercer was excellent but nowhere near Toney's accomplishments.

The difference is, Mercer actually beat someone relatively significant under MMA rules. And he did it within 9 seconds.

Aha, which is irrelevant in terms of boxing accolades. Read that post again please.

If we're talking about the MMA fighter with the best possible accolades in boxing, it's Muhammad Ali. I'm particularly alluding to his fight with Antonio Inoki.

Now, if we're talking about the dude who's had the best success in MMA with the best accolades in boxing then it's Ray Mercer hands down.

The boxer with the highest accolades in MMA is Anderson Silva :P

That wasn't even close to stardard MMA rules. So it doesn't count.

That is not what we're talking about! In fact, what are we talking about?

I don't know about that, 32 rounds of boxing is a lot to take in in one sitting. I think they should have more 4-6 fights with prospects on the undercard and put fights up more often. These undercard fights that have been put up recently should have been their own events.

Okay, fine. The best MMA fighter who has fought under the universal rules and has the highest boxing accolades is James Toney.

If people can take in three hours of baseball or football, surely they can take in two or three bouts of boxing.
