Haven't spoken to him about it, as this is the first I've seen of this video, but knowing him I can tell you, he's not an arrogant person, and is of the personality to let you try and work your stuff without just owning you to prove a point. He may have been able to put on a hilarious clinic of throws and sweeps, but the Hakama guy obviously came to his gym on good terms to get a taste of Judo and BJJ, and by the looks of things that's what he got.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

    Yeah, that's what I thought.

As soon as you see him throw you can tell he's got some good Judo.

I've felt it first hand, and am kinda mad that I've been on the receiving end of far more demoralizing thrashings, for far less offenses than wearing a hakama on the mat :(

On topic though, it amazes me that as an art Aikido has lasted as long as it has. It's gotten to the point that even those who teach it often claim that the training isn't directly combat applicable, and it's more of a philosophy of movement or some bullshit like that.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it again anyway.. There's simply not enough reality checks in shitty martial arts training.

That video was bizzare and confusing. WTF was the aikidoka doing? I can understand the judoka was trying to let him work his stuff with out being a prick and tooling him, but what stuff was the dude working? At one point he let the judoka grab his gi and he just dropped his and followed along. Is that t3h d34dly defence?

I think this is what he expected would happen when the Aikido takes on Judo.
