I'm a fan of Sonnen, but did anyone notice that the ref stood them up in the middle of getting set up for (another) triangle? I thought that was BS.

The arm triangle finish was pretty cool, though.

Yea, this kind of stuff has been occurring more often lately. I hope they stop.

Sonnen bores the hell out of me. The only thing he can do is tackle and tickle. He reminds me Werdum in the opposite way, instead being desperate to get people in his gaurd he's desperate to get inside theirs.

How the hell does that bore you? Sonnen was constantly working that entire fight, always hitting, getting take downs, just grinding his opponent.

Different strokes for different blokes I guess.

I too was annoyed that the ref stood them up, guy should be shot for that.

I mean in general. I give him credit for this fight, but it doesn't mean the other ones didn't happen. Sonnen has finally moved up past the .500 mark in the UFC now.

They also seem to have picked up the obnoxious notion that you have to repeate "Let's work gentleman" or something equally asinine every five seconds when the fight is on the floor, no matter how hard anyone is working.

Its probably to appeal to the fans who don't appreciate grappling in the same way that people who train in it do.

Yeah, the standups and "let's work gentlemen" are seriously starting to piss me off.

It's the inconsistancy that pisses me off. Some refs will stand and watch while a guy gets pounded, some will stop it if a guy stumbles. Some refs will let guys stall for as long as they want, and some will stand them up in the middle of a sub attempt. Then the floppers *cough Kos *cough, who try to sell a foul like Rik Smits and some refs actually buy it, and the guys who legitamately get fouled and the ref makes them fight anyway.

Dana needs to sack up and quit passing the blame. Push for an MMA commission and get rid rid of the boxing politics. We can't be mad at only the refs when they clearly aren't trained very well. The "fastest growing sport in the world" seems quite stagnant to me, if not moving backwards.

This needs to happen for the sport to grow.
Having refs who understand the sport and when a call is shitty would make fights far more entertaining IMO.
