    Cung Le vs Wand

So UFC 139 is gonna have Cung Le fighting Wanderlei Silva. Not sure what to think about that. Sounds like an awesome fight, but it also sounds like another concussion and KO loss for Silva. Kind of ironic how such a vicious attacker like Wand has a plastic chin.

For Cung Le to finally make his way to the UFC at this stage of his life, they must've offered him hella cash since he can make plenty doing crap movies.

I don't see much of a future for either guy, and despite my skepticism, I'll be looking forward to this fight. I'll be looking forward to whole show since the Rua vs Hendo fight is headlining. Than one should be F-ING brutal.

I think the likely hood of him getting KFTO is almost assured against anyone who is not a pure grappler. But I also think Le will crack under a Silva assult. The last time he got charged he got stopped, and after a few losses, Silva goes psycho. Jardine still has nightmares...

Basically I'm so conflicted on this that the only thing I can say for sure is I can't wait for this card.

Agreed. Besides, Cung Le aint so young either, and he's been chilling with his film buddies.

Yup. That's why I wonder what kind of offer the UFC must've made him. He's what, 39 now?

39 and his last fight was over a year ago, he did admittedly win by TKO.

    His MMA record is 7-1

    Kickboxing 17-0

Wanderlei is younger (35), a more well rounded fighter and has a shitload more experience in MMA at high levels.

I don't know that I would give Wand the check mark on more well rounded. Le is a very good wrestler, and quite strong. He has great sweeps and takedowns/suplex, and has a nasty heel pick, which Wand's style makes him vulnerable to. Besides that, I really doubt either guy has any intention of anything non-striking.

Wand is younger, but hasn't aged well. Bad knees and hips, multiple concussions, and the wear and tear that comes with his style. Le has none of that.

As for Le's experience, it's definitely a matter of quantity over quality, both in San Shou and mma. Silva's muder rush might be too much for him.

I just think that Cung Le as a fighter is less tested on the ground than Silva. The level of competition between them is too great.

No arguing that. Silva is known for catching kicks, Le may just throw one too many and get trampled.
