    A shield?

One thing I'll say about the whole ninja thing is...regardless of its heritage, validity as a fighting style, etc etc etc, as a demonstration art is is great fun to watch, and some of the body mechanics involved are lovely

Maybe its is fitting that thier costumes are that of the theatre

    Tate (盾) (45 cm)

The tate is a shield used in a style of fighting known as "tate kodachi" which consists of the tate and a kodachi.

All I see is this. I do like how this Booj thread has turned into a comparative study of other traditional weapon styles...always something new to learn, like the fact that the Japanese invented padded sword LARPing in 1969.

Question...why does a Google Image search for "Chanbara" come up with so many pictures of half-naked women?

Because "chanbara" refers to a style of Japanese samurai movie, basically their version of a western. The fake foam sword stuff is named after the movies.

Oppai (Breasts) Chanbara was a weird fun movie. Samurai, ninjas, and titties.
This is the essence of Japan.

It's great that they enjoy it, but, I am disapoint.

I've been asking sincere questions and listening to people who know better than I since I got here...y'know, since I started this thread and actually thanked people for their answers?

Now be can both STFU and move on.
