I'm going to our local taco truck in a little bit, he's from your town Perma.

    He's the best.
He's making this for tonight apparently:

You and Pat need to stop pointing the good Hawaiian food. Man, I'm ready to swim from Seattle to Hawaii just to get some good plate lunch. I miss the lunch trucks and plate lunches in small hole in the wall places.

    (Sorry, more!)

    The brisket was awesome!
Since i'm going in to Honolulu today, i might stop by Fort Street Cafe, one of my favorite hole in the walls.
They have the best Panang curry and garlic chicken.

A friend has been reccomending Da Kitchen, notably their shoyu ginger opakpaka(pink snapper).

Of course if i'm already down there, Downtown @ the HiSAM(Hawai'i State Art Museum) never disappoints.

    Pan seared ono(wahoo):

    Lamb with Chimichurri:

I remember that place. Fort Street was my hang out in the mid 90s. There were some good places along that strip. There also was this cheap hole in the wall Chinese buffet place between Merchant and Queen in the alley way. It had some pretty descent food for a buffet. Also liked the Vietnamese place on Hotel down by Smith Street.

Been making morning smoothies. Fresh local pineapple, many kinds of bananas, papaya (5,6,or 7 for $1), oranges, key limes, lychee (harvest is peaking!), mango, guava and lilikoi (passion fruit) and for a treat I add a handful of mainland frozen berries.

Here's some pictures of local farmer's markets:

While not a particular dish I will say the food I had in Ireland surprised me a great deal. Almost every meal I had was wonderful...amazing fresh free-range beef, and local cheese. Maybe it was because I didn't expect anything special from Irish food (given its historic poor reputation), but I walked away very impressed with the food I had there (expensive though).

I've had the best cevhiche in Peru; and, of course, you can't go to Peru without eating lomo saltado and hitting up Bembos!

Recently I've been getting into a wider variety of cuts of meat; beef cheek, sweetbreads, pork belly, etc... Good stuff out there.

And here's the local appetite stimulant. It's everywhere and the cops look the other way (though there is funding for 'copters going after farmers). And it's under $200 an ounce.

My date had the adobo pork ribs:

I've had the salmon there before and it is very good:

Tonight it's likely one of my favorite places, http://www.kalapawaimarket.com/section/cafe/

I have a soft spot for the Meyer lemon risotto, with asparagus as a side or with fish as an entrée.

(^That honestly looks more like couscous, not my pic. You get the idea though.)

The salmon bruschetta are really good too:

The new http://primahawaii.com/ is another option.

    Spicy meatball:

    Veal sweetbreads:

    "Buffalo" clams:

Papardelle bolognese w/ fried curry leaves:
