Punching bag vs ...?
Long story short: I have really bad wrists and elbows. I got one surgery but it was unfortunately a failure and I'll need to get that same wrist operated on before I get the next one done.
While this is going on I'm trying to rehabilitate the tennis elbow in my elbows.
I've started running to keep fit but I feel that there is more I could be doing.
I could get a punching bag and work and my kicks and do some (light) work on my punches as only excessive punching hurts.
It doesn't make sense (at least I don't think) to join a gym because I'll be out for about a month later in the year and then another month a little while after that. Also, I wouldn't be able to do my part there and hold pads/mitts for people as holding pads (especially thai pads) really hurts like hell.
So should I just get a punching bad and hope my technique is OK or attempt braving the conditions at a local gym? I'd even be desperate enough to try TKD but all the gyms around here are "McDojang" kid-oriented garbage.
What would you do?
Go do BJJ. Problem solved. Someone else can suggest Judo.

If you have tennis elbow even Bjj is gonna suck.
Everything but rehab is out, & time + shitloads of cortisone is pretty much your only course ( in my experience ).
It truly pains me to not be able to say " harden the **** up & do it anyway ",but I had to deal with tennis elbow a few years ago when a monster croat missed the kick shield & planted one on my left elbow & no amount of trying to train around it worked.
I'd suggest to keep running, actually.
