The Bak Mei club I trained at has since closed its doors to the public. Mike is only training private students in small numbers now.
However, the site is still up and there's a lot of good information regarding the style and our offshoot fighting style -short fist.
I was also a closed-door student for about two years and am still on good terms with the club.

I understand that Mike is now working with a Hung Gar Sifu from the USA and taken him on as a private student. There is a link to his website and he speaks at length about his experiences training under Mike.
Can you explain Bak Mei and short fist more please ? I've read the articles on the site you linked, but I'm interested in practical things more than history. What kind of things would I expect to see coming out in sparring? the type of footwork etc..?

Hey all, I am the Hung Gar guy mentioned above that trains under Mr. Doucet. I figured I would create and account and add my 2 cents.

Mike Doucet trained under Lee. I am not aware the either of them post online currently, but Lee used to post on this site if I recall.

As to the system itself, there is more reliable info on www.pakmei.net as well as the posts Lee put on this forum than I have seen anywhere else.

Short fist is great stuff, I practice it daily. It can be hard to find Chinese martial arts that are practical all around in this day and age.

Pretty sure Mike had a few posts as well. Lee is greatly missed here. Good to have you here, enjoy your stay.

Yes, we know. He told us, in a post, that he was retiring.

I don't know of any Pak Mei clubs in the NE United States Frenchie.
Just to be clear..I used the wrong terminology referring to my self as ' closed -door ' , rather, this is for todei - which I was not.
I was a private student , not a disciple per se.

Ok, I think I get it. Not that I could go to a school that would be that far away. My martial arts time is limited to Saturday afternoons. Most of the Kung Fu schools we've found in Philly practice on Saturday's from 1-4 PM, which is when I train Yagyu. Thanks for the heads up, though.
