West Wind Schools has a new storefront
You know that ride at the county fair that had badly airbrushed pictures of chicks in bikinis fighting dragons? It had little pods that went around and around and could go up and down a bit and backwards. They blasted hairmetal buttrock and the carnie with his three teeth would get on the intercom and say "DO YOU WANT TO GO FASTER?" and the teenagers would shriek and he would say "I CAN'T HEAR YOOOOOOU" and they would shriek louder and he'd increase the speed a bit? That ride?
I don't know why, but West Wind's new place reminds me of that ride.
Also they have a school here. They used some sort of homeschooling loophole to form it. I sure feel safe about the future...
Anyway I had to share this. Image viked from google maps. My jaw drops every time I drive past the thing. They have a boxing ring in there, by the way.
Pass a belt test, win a fabulous prize! Only from this bottom shelf, between the troll doll and novelty comb, including the pencil but not the eraser. Black belts win a poorly made plush toy of Stewlie from Family Man.
We have this pagoda-style United Studios here in San Diego, that's right next to a smoke shop:
and I think that's hilarious. Also funny- there's a MMA gym literally two stores down, so I'm not sure how they get kids with the smoke shop sign or how they get adults with the MMA gym next door.
Lips, next to this karate dojo, is a drag show bar.
West Winds also got themselves a boxing ring and a boxing coach of some sort. Maybe their bok-fu guys were being beaten up too much.
What's this about a K-12 private school? One of these things is not like the other.
They have a creepy school in there for brainwashing 'em early. Skeery cult stuff! They got some sorta homeschooling license loophole.
I don't think West Winds ever competes outside of their own schools.
Hoi Rivington- I think there needs to be a NorCal throwdown here in the bay area. I'll be up for it in 4 months when my knee surgery has healed more. Know of a space, or should I somehow try to get my dojo to agree to host?
Some kid was even on here a couple of years ago, who was a student of their K-12 school as some sort of juvie diversion. Terrifying.
