    yeah i was thinking about that. I saw since I was 4, I don't even remember how low the age groups were but 10-12 was not the lowest, and I do not believe I would have been as skillful a swimmer had I not practiced at that age.

    Of course, Judoka is talking about COMPETITION, not training.

    Plus it's the national sport. It's a trade skill in its own right.
    I understand they have VERY short careers, so I don't think it pans out in the long run. Only civilized sports like baseball really pan out.

    Unless you take into account the damage all the steroids cause to their health in the long run. Or the wear and tear on the elbows and knees.
