I meant- "The US and judo kids are from a very different world... to thailand"
I'm thinking more in terms of different cultures, and influences like national sports. How young did the elite of soccer, rugby league, boxing, muay thai e.t.c. start? Pretty young I reckon. Even just playing around at home coz its what everyone does is a form of training.
Kids doing judo in us and uk are probably not going to be as driven or fanatical. Or as likely to stick around as its not in their face their whole lives. (just my opinion.)Last edited by jdempsey; 9/15/2011 8:45pm at .

When I look through youtube Muay Thai videos I occasionally come across "Muay Thai" fights between kids that look about 13 and if it didn't say so in the title I wouldn't have guessed that it was a Muay Thai fight. Its impressive that what they where doing looked distinctly like Muay Thai when there that young.
I am not sure if I would let kids I was responsible for do that but it dousnt look like such a horrific experience. Boys often fight from a young age, worse things have happened then making them put gloves on first.
