They are very progressive and different from the WC schools here in HK (from what I have seen). I suspected that when I came to HK I would not be able to find anything similar and I was right. As for my 12 year old, it is too easy for her to chat with her friend while training, and I know that that is what she is doing. That is going to be a lot harder if she is doing MT/Boxing drills, tapping a bag and doing fitness stuff.

Im not going to ask which school you're referring to, that would be intrusive. Which organisation does said school belong to?

I sense we're gonna get along.

Hey, this one's fail-safe against a guy with his arms down, and crossed.

    I believe so,
I actually studied at a Leng Ting school for a few months...
Left me feeling like my ass hurt and my wallet was missing... (raped and robbed.)
Looks good on Kung Fu movies but thats it...I love the fact that in the video you posted the dude on the right, (winner?) obviously has no power in that flurry at the end. lol

Well imho chi sau is chi sau, it's not fighting, it's a type of conditioning drill.

The problem, once again, is CMAs trying to pawn their conditioning and training drills as sparring or fighting, which they aren't.

I've seen compliant, choreographed versions like the one you posted (usually set to some sort of techno or house music for effect). It's mostly choreographed chi sau and they drop a throw or some sort of palm strike in there now and then. Yeah it's a demo...I get that but the ____ ____ people always see to use demos as their "proof" of everything..hence the forum frowning.

Then I've seen plenty of fail demos like the one Bobby posted, which usually involve at least one student who doesn't know what he's even doing....so not a great illustration of any art.

Then I've seen this..might have been posted in the thread already...more chi sau, but a little more alive and with some contact....ok looks cool, some conditioning going on....but no this is not "____ ____ fighting" this is basically semi-compliant drilling.

Da Saam Sing is another arm conditioning method that I personally use in training, and it looks really cool, hurts like hell, toughens the arms...but still isn't fighting.

So Chunners showing chi sau as "The Real ____ ____ sparring!" would be like me showing someone how hard and fast we can cross arms in da saam sing.

    Looks cool, useful....not for fighting.

As much as I hate wing chun, I don't think the chi sau video posted is in the same class as 3 star. The first videos has elements of unpredictibility and reactiveness and following bridging through to actually striking. 3 star has hit, hit, hit *switch* hit hit hit in a much more scripted way.
