Long arms as close combat weapons

I would like to learn to use a rifle or shotgun as close combat weapon, kind of like a staff.
One of my main concerns is damaging the arm by miss use

Is there a close combat system out there that covers this?

Surely the Infantry teaches something along these lines?

    Thanks

oh, god, the pun possibilities are endless.

more seriously though, one thing you could look into, if possible, is adapting existing weapon styles that have roughly analogous shapes, but yeah, the military's probably your best bet, IMO.

also, if i remember correctly, there's a japanese style based on use of the rifle-mounted bayonet. i think it's called jukendo.

    Rifle combatives work as follows.

    1. Do you have a bayonet?
    A. If yes then stabity stab stab
    a. is he dead?
    aa. if not repeat.
    B. If not then move to step 2
    2. Butt stroke that ************
    A. Do it again
    a. once more for luck
    aa. boo ya.

This is all assuming your out of ammunition so you couldnt do the smart thing and just burn him.

I'm thinking for when I am out of ammo. back to the wall kind of thing
Technically I can only hold 2+1 rnds in my shotgun, and at best It could take 6+1

No bayonette lugs, and to get them fitted would raise a few eyebrows, to say the least!

Never underestimate a barrel poke. That shits hard and hurts like hell to a collarbone, forehead, neck or eyeball.

Also learn to buttstroke. Hahaha..I said buttstroke. lol

No chance of a side arm here in Ireland

I use a 3 point sling so I cant just drop my empty shotgun as it is attatched to me, so I'm thinking get good at shotgun fencing

Knife sounds like a good one, but getting the tuition is problematic. But being able to use a blade efficiently does appeal to me though.
