One of my buddies was an extra in this!
Did you happen to notice a stocky red headed fellow with a goatee and no shirt on jumping up and down yelling "WHOOOOOOOOAAAAAHHH!" in the crowd during the fights?
It was actually a step up from his last part as an extra, which was in the Rob van Damne/Dave Batista action vehicle "Wrong Side of Town". Also he got Eddie Bravo's autograph for me the one day the Master of The Twister was on set.
Anthony Petitis and Jon Jones make it a lot harder to claim the Communist Super Tae Kwon Do in the second and third Undisputed movie's is "unrealistic".
BOYKA! BOYKA! BOYKA!
He trained for years
In defense of the fight choreography industry, whenever two guys have an exciting fight in MMA (Bonnar/Griffin, Liddell/Silva, Korean Zombie, etc.) the interwebs get flooded with guys talking about how "sloppy" the technique on display was.
Perhaps the hardcore fans will be pleased when boxing, kickboxing, and MMA movies feature entire rounds going by with nothing but jab and grab, bicycling, and lay and pray. Because IF IT'S EXCITING YOU'RE NOT DOING IT RIGHT!

what i mean by "hollywood style" is that stances and postures have to be done in a way to show the characters' faces and frame a good shot. techniques have to be allowed to be put on to show the super awesome lock of doom crane kick move while the opponent is being compliant.
things like that make for good movie choreography. it would be hard to have most professional fights put into a movie using standard camera/editing shots and techniques.
i was actually expecting the final fights at the tournament to look horrid, but was pleasantly surprised by the slick choreography.
i guess a broken clock is right twice a day....

So I finally dug down real deep and found the stones to watch this movie.
Oh man was that an experience.
This movie was essentially the penis of opportunity seeking out the sphincter of disapointment. Now granted there is only so much potential for a movie like this but daaaaaammmmnn.
From the opening scene of the movie you just knew you were in for it and the looming question on your mind is will the payoff be worth it? Watching this movie is. Like hitting on a fat, ugly, stupid chick in the bar. You'll suffer thrugh a evening of pain and dissapointment all the while hoping that at the end of the night you'll finally get to pull off the "Angry Dragon".
The dialog was worse than what one would expect to find in a low budget version of Dawsons Creek meets a porn flick with a plot line. By this point in the movie you're two minutes in and already you want to die. But you have'nt even met the rest of the retarded cast yet.
First you got the angst ridden wrestler with the gay dad and some anger problems.
Then there is the metro sexual boxer who can pick up capoeira in about two seconds.
Of course you need a comic book nerd. Who just happens to be a ripped athlete in disguise then just cut his hair and slap on some tats and viola, instant badass.
Oh and my favorite. The love child of Brock Lesnar and Jay Leno. My god, this guy is as shallow as his chin is huge. Just throw in a couple of mommy issues cause she works at a strip club that will give him some depth..
And to round out the cast of angst ridden teenagers played by thirty year old actors we have the could'nt afford megan fox look alike but this one will show off her tits 3 way love interest, girl.
And finally you have the black Mr. Miyagi.
Now the movie speeds up with about 3 epic training montages evenly interspersed with gratuitious titty shots. Why 3 you ask? Cause you only have 90 days to turn these clowns into badasses and the only way to do that is with extra montages. And tittys.
Finally you wade through the horrible plot, bad acting, titty shots and naked man ass to get to the "epic" fight scenes. You know this is the part where the reward is being able to pull off the angry dragon on the ugly chick.
The fight scenes were done fairly well albeit way to cleanly for mma. But you're left wondering if the gratuitious nudity, superman lunge punches and ever elusive in real life gogoplattas were worth the torn and bleeding rectum you now have.
Overall I'd give this movie two chuns out of a possible 5.
God, where did I put my suppositories?

It never ceases to amaze me how people can make courtrooms exciting. When I watch MA movies, I can't help but key in on **** that works, but I am primarily concerned with being entertained, which is why threads like this don't mean shyte to me. Other than to entertain me. Loved the review.
The fact remains that kung fu is the best MA for movies. Anyone disagree?

why did they have to make the jewish kid the bad guy?
Because Jews are da debil Bobby Bouchier. (in Louisiana anyway). Along with anyone else who isn't Cajun/inbred or ghetto as ****.
I worked in that state for long time; why the **** would they set an MMA movie there? There really is none to speak of... But there's lots of Juko Kai Combat Ki. lol (I'm serious about the Juko Kai combat Ki stuff.)

I tried the tatoo thingy to gain some mma legitimacy...
But all the guys at the gym just laughed at me when they saw my "foom foom" tramp stamp.
Next thing you know I'm getting the donkey punch and being told that I was "asking for it.
