    Not exactly pistol grip like that, but I've tried a similar move and ended up on my back empty-handed, and beat before I could realize what happened.

    I messed up with the straight arm and head control. Im going to keep trying. I suspect I cocked it up so badly, I havnt given away what I was trying to do yet.

    Although if you do end up on your back, and you've still got grip on the sleeve, you can fall into De La Hiva guard

    No, I had nothing. I slapped away an arm and got a good grip on the cuff of his sleeve, and was in good position to roll into an armbar. Not quite sure what happened in the next second, but in the one after that I was flat on my back looking up at the lights and he was standing by my head. Not sure what happened in following second there either, but in the one after it I was tapping out.

    That sucks, I figure If I screw up again, I'll go for an ankle instead.

    That's what I should've done in the first place. Hindsight revealed a defenseless leg. Even if I would've failed at that, it wouldn't have been as bad as what happened.
