This is great.
I think the whole whitebelt deal is funny. The guys serious will see the light. The hard part is the experience. The thought process is, "we did this is class, everyone will know it's coming, I need to find something different that they won't know so I can sub someone..." and then, as the video suggests, lose all the basics. It's a humbling experience if you have to do the full circle.
But then you see the light! The hidden secrets in the basics (OMG, The Chun forms...DO HOLD T3h Grappl3 s3cr3ts! Wait, that's still not true...). But it's true. I tell all the white belts, sure look around, but know the proof is in the basics, in the guts of basics. If they want to go for one 'crazy' sub or guard, meh, just have the basic one down awesome and hit the crazy one now and again, it will help if they can piece it all together.
Otherwise, they will leave and go back to the Chun or Ninjitsu, and we won't have to worry about them ever again. -
