    Savannah, GA schools

So my sempai will be living in Savannah, GA for the next few years while furthering his education. He would like to keep training in something than a Koryu. He doesn't mind another TMA, be it CMA, FMA or whatnot. I have searched on the site for schools, and the only thing I've seen that's worthwhile is a MMA school, but he isn't the MMA type. Any assistance in finding him somewhere to train is most appreciated. If this is in the wrong forum, mods, please move.

    Can't go wrong with Judo
Of the single rapier fight between valiant men, having both skill, he that is the best wrestler, or if neither of them can wrestle, the strongest man most commonly kills the other, or leaves him at his mercy.

There was a previous thread about the place that wasn't encouraging. BKR couldn't find the place in any of the three National governing bodies.

United States Judo Association list of chartered clubs, do a search on state and GA. Not that I"m not endorsing any of these, just providing information.
    http://www.usjamanagement.com/public/charteredClubs/

United States Judo Federation: Georgia is in the "Shufu" Yudanshakai, however, there could be clubs registered with other yudanshakai (the regional organizational block of the USJF). http://shufujudo.org/wp-content/uplo...er-Clubs_J.pdf

And finally, the national governing body for Judo, USA Judo.
    http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Judo/About-Us/Find-A-Club

Savannah seems to be not very well endowed with Judo. This lists himself as black belt in Judo

Champions Training Center offers "no gi" Judo: http://www.ctcsavannah.com/judo.html
Not exactly sure what they mean by that. The instructor listed is for sure an experienced fighter, a black belt "under" ...

    Doug Matsuoka at http://www.savannahtaekwondo.com/index-2.html

I'd say he should check out Champions...he might have pre-conceived notions of what it's about, as well as what Champions might be like.

Looking at a map, Savannah is fairly close to Hilton Head, so...
    Hilton Head

Hilton Head Kombat Judo Club, First Round Boxing Gym, 48 Pennington Drive, Unit D, Bluffton, SC. Contact – Michael McClendon, 5th dan; (843) 290-5502; classes Tuesday, 6-7:30 pm and Saturday, 10-11:30 am; michaelbluffton@aol.com

    Then you have : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hilto...94872583959274

Here is some YouTube footage of Mr. McClendon:

    Hope that helps.
