Interesting read. I've spent the passed year studying a lot of material that relates to the information you posted. Within the next two weeks i'll be taking my ARRT certification exam to get my license as a Radiation Therapist. I've been doing clinicals at the hospital the passed year in the cancer treatment center. Often friends ask me if working with cancer patients is depressing. I reply no not really, most of the patients have a good attitude and laugh and joke with us like nothing is wrong, it's kind of uplifting if anything.
Is there any particular reason why you posted this information? I'm just being curious. -

Just for kicks.
I really like medicine and the study of disease. I kind of just want to spread information about it. I guess I also want to practice conveying the information in an easy manner in a pop-science kind of way. Getting it in a form that lay people can understand, while keeping the facts straight and clear is kind of tricky. That and writing about science is kind of a hobby.
I might put the rest up in a different post later, there was 5 or six more pages of that beast.
Congratulations on obtaining your license. (in advance)Last edited by jubei33; 8/28/2011 7:20pm at .

Did you write this? If not one of the rules, no matter the sub-forum, is links and an explanation in the post or the next post.

No, actually you're the first one. You lucky dog!
It's been so long since I wrote it, that I don't really remember specifically what I was refering to. However, there's quite a lot of newer research in humanized monoclonal antibodies going on right now, including drugs that have been approved for human use, like Avastin ('Yarrrrr-matey'). In contrast to the concept working in mice, this is more exciting from a treatment perspective. Cost-benefit controversy aside, its interesting to see an idea push through development and become a useful treatment.
Later on I'll look for the original, though.http://woodwardswhiskey.wordpress.com/

Excuse me sir would you please stick your finger up my bottom
I was just about to unleash a thread on mens health and specifically cancer awarness, but found this one and though I'd hitch a ride...
http://www.cancer.ie/men/
Testicular cancer is so easy to test for! Feel your balls every now and again. Make friends with them. remember all those good times...
Spoiler:
If one of those little fellas' changes size, go see your doctor.
Prostrate cancer detection...well there is now easy way
You know what I'm talking about
But do it for your now and future children
Who knows, you may grow to like it
Fukit, you might as well
Thanks for the ride -

You know, there are more reliable methods in the form of blood tests that are remarkably accurate. I'd hate to think you'd want ta take a chance with your 'boys' and all. Just thought I'd mention it.
oh, and you know I heard that a couple of companies are working on rapid micro RNA based tests that could be even better in terms of accuracy, cost (possibly, I'm skeptical, at least,) and early detection. Early detection is the big one, which would affect all manner of diagnostic exams for cancer and could remove us from this 'guess and check' sort of game we've been playing.http://woodwardswhiskey.wordpress.com/

Medical science sure is advancing. There is now a vacine for cervical cancer!
I have also read that frequent ejaculations can reduce a mans risk of prostrate cancer. Wankers like me should be OK!
I hear what you say about more precise methods of cancer testing, but a quick balls self exam is free, convienient and can be fun!
I dont know about where you live, but in Ireland men are very poor at looking after thier health. Even when irish men have quite seriouse symptoms they are reticent to go to the doctors.
Very interesting thread, by the way. Keep up the good work
