True there is big money in UFC but lets face it, compared to the other meat-and-potato sports in the US, UFC is chump change, even with all the sponsorship pro fighting currently has. NFL players face less risk, less injury, and get paid millions even if they SUCK. If they lose, the team shares the loss, but everyone still gets paid.

That will change when Fox starts doing "Friday Night MMA", and Coca Cola, Ford, and McDonalds start sponsoring ads.

And yep, almost NONE of that cash will go to the fighters (at least the ones with shitty agents/contracts)....but I will bet the whole fighter-agent-promoter atmosphere will change the same way it did when boxing moved to prime time cable like HBO. Marquee fighters will make big dollars now, their faces will be EVERYWHERE...just like News Corp. is everywhere.

How much does the average UFC loser bring home? Not much...until major sponsors and advertisers come along...then it matters less who wins the FIGHT, because everyone makes a hell of a lot more money (As long as they get their points/% in writing....)

Trainers rarely make good money off of a fighter. Usually the trainer gets screwed when the guy makes an impact in the sport and he either moves on to a higher profile trainer or decides he knows better and goes out on his own.

The way most of us will make money is people wanting to train in the sport or in an aspect like BJJ or MT. Keep in mind that they average person doesn't want to be an MMA fighter but being in the environment is enough for them. Also for the academies we will get an influx of people wanting to train with UFC level fighters in the BJJ and MT classes because its fun and they can be part of a team or camp. This is the advantage MMA has over the NFL you can actually go train with a professional fighter in an aspect of his sport on a daily basis. This level of fan connection is going to be paramount in the survival of the sport as well as endearing it to the fans.
