UFC and Fox sign 7 year broadcasting deal.

UFC programming will be on Fox.

The UFC and Fox Broadcasting Company announced on Aug 18th, that they'd entered into a seven year partnership. The UFC's programming will be on Fox's flagship network 4x a year, and also featured on Fox owned FX.

We'll see how everything breaks down, as time goes on. Thoughts Bullies?

This is basically a strategic move by News Corporation against Viacom (which owns MTV which owns Spike).

Rubert Murdoch is being smart and taking major market share (and major advertising dollars) away from one of their few competitors.

Murdoch is all about making money. I think he'll try to do whatever he can to make the UFC more profitable. I think it'll be at the expense of the sport. Also, I'm imagining higher budget, more dynamic ring entrances, like they do in the WWE (and possibly other elements from pro wrestling and American Gladiators).

I was looking for an article about this here the other day I'm going to miss spike and ufc fit the channel so well. Oh well still have 1000 ways to die and gametrailers and I don't think fox is going to screw up ufc.

So you think the UFC will start paying better and trickle down to the trainers?

Keep in mind what FOX already does for pro football, basketball, baseball...

I think it's an enormous endorsement for UFC and fighting sport in general. Keep in mind the only way to originally view UFC was on PPV and VHS tapes....now it's going to be distributed by one of the big five multimedia conglomerates.

This move is going to make this much money, times a lot.

I bet they will. Perhaps not immediately, but in time. Pro athletes in other sports making such large amounts of money essentially because of competition among teams for the best talent. If there is a larger pool of money in the UFC, over time fighters will be able to negotiate higher salaries.
