So Lets figure out rules for Kabbadi that could be used for a good warm up or supplement at the gym. We play a lot of Dodgeball but Kabbadi could be more applicable. The 30 sec rule is a good start. When do you start timing?

Whoah! I thought our gym was the only one that sometimes used dodgeball as a warm-up. :-D As a full-body warm-up, it is pretty hard to beat.

As for Kabbadi as a warm-up, instead of take-downs at the beginning of class, perhaps use a "flag football approach" and instead try to pull the "flag" (white belt cut up into 12-inch sections) from the other person's belt.

    Maybe?

    I dunno.

My Judoclub does a similar warmup, and it's great for getting warm and ever so slightly giggly - or laughing uproariously (not a bad thing IMO, never start a training session in a bad mood).

I did a little judo in college, and we did this drill where everyone forms small groups of about four. Everyone gets a number, and everyone lies down up against each other like sardines. Once everyone's down, Coach says a number, and if that number is you, you try to run to the door, and if that number isn't you, you try to capture that person. It was a whole lot of fun.

We used to play a game where a team would all sit down and link arms and the other team had to pull people to their starting point. Obviously the goal was to not get pulled to the other team's "lair".

That game stopped being fun when the coach told me to stop putting strangles on my prey (so they'd have to unlink their arms to tap).

I hate doing games to warm up.

I'm not a child I can warm up doing drills, callisthenics and stretching.
