    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    GJJ = BJJ?

Pardon my total noobness, but is Gracie Jujitsu the same as Brazilian Jujitsu? I read somewhere that GJJ is "better", more SD oriented than BJJ. BJJ is supposedly "generic".

How true is this? Isn't GJJ the same as BJJ?

Think Wing Chun, Traditional Wing Chun, and Wing Tsun lineage and technique arguments.

Only trolls, nutriders, and people arguing semantics are going to note the "differences."

Depends on which Gracie is teaching it and your goals.

ok, so BJJ is either the same as GJJ or different, depending on who I'm talking to?

Your post has nothing to do with any specific martial technique. Thus it was removed from the technique forums.

It's a simple concept really. Posts that do not concern a specific martial technique, like a roundhouse kick or an armbar, do not belong in the technique areas.

As for your rather trollish question, it is all BJJ. GJJ has it's own flavor, which can even vary from Gracie to Gracie as David Koresh jr pointed out.

No one distinguished between BJJ and GJJ until the Gracies used it as a marketing tool to boost their market share and separate themselves from other BJJ schools.

Edit: I suppose I should add that the lack of self defense curriculum in many sport oriented BJJ schools caused the Gracies to do this in the first place

People you're talking to are not equal depending on who you are talking to. If you need stuff to be equal, delve into some math. That has some equal **** going on for sure.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum, i didn't know where to post it.

I'm not being a troll, I'm just curious about the difference between the two and it's all becoming clear to me.

Well what are your goals and what is available in your area? That matter more.

Yes. Will there be some differences? Of course. Just like different coaches in boxing are teaching you their "version." A good coach is going to be a good coach.

People are going to argue this is more SD this is more for the sport. As much as it will piss off some Bjjers it sounds like the too deadly bullshit to me.

    Edit:

Yes, I know focus is important to an extent. Still, I know GJJers and BJJers that have used their respective versions effectively and ineffectively.
