I know giving up the underhook isn't a strategy but if no one ever got it, there wouldn't be any thing for the guy on the bottom to do. We could just get a top position then end the fight right? Point being don't give up the underhook just to try this move but when the guy on the bottom invariably gets his hand in there you have something else to try.

Control the upper body, then work on getting the legs free. I know this is basic and trite, but everything else follows from that.Falling for Judo since 1980

Guess I shouldn't have put the question mark in my title. I know several lockdown escapes. The question mark was about whether or not the one I was describing was any good.

Well dude, despite being a basic caveman I got that part of it. My comments were in response to everybody else. So far one success story.

Interesting. I've got Gi today I'll play with it some more. I guess you couldn't try it yourself because of the neck?

I'd love to try it but I'm rarely caught in lockdown and I'd like to try it when its natural. I showed it to coffeefan he may try it out himself. I really don't see this effecting my neck though.

Played with it more today. something I forgot to mention in the first description you want to break your hips away from the lockdown. In the same direction of the whizzer. That is what gives you room to roll. Also, unlike the picture I posted you need to whizzer hard before they can connect their hands. I gotta get some video of this somehow.
