The Atlanta Mega version of this match up was much more entertaining

This is actually part of their training method, not just him being annoying. The training method in systema is to start with a scenario in which you can relax, then challenge the relaxation, because in systema you should always be loose and relaxed. Consequently, smiling is encouraged because it keeps you in the relaxed state instead of a tense one.

Yes, my buddy Sham Wow does this too, as well as the audible breathing heard in the video. I'll tell you though, he CAN take a shot to the liver. Not that I'm an expert striker, though.

Slackening your jaw helps keep your shoulders relaxed, do it all the time whilst rowing. That being said, its probably more of a liability in a situation where getting punched in the face is a strong likelihood.

I never really know what to make of Systema.

It sometimes looks goofy - yet people who don't seem to be full of **** say good things about it.

It has some interesting theories, but any striking art that advocates keeping your arms slack and by your side is flawed. It'd be like a grappling art who's defense to a choke involved relaxing, and waiting till their arms get tired.

All the bad ideas come from a lack of cross training and proper aliveness, just like all the other shitty MA's.

I think the better striking arts keep arms relaxed and loose, until impact.
