I sparred a hapkido guy under mma rules once and also insisted on gloves so tha he wouldn't run into 'em too hard. Sure was a pain in the arse on the ground.

i like how the systema guy has a smile on his face the whole time, as if he thinks how deadly he is being lol, and I don't really see how any of his strikes had any power or reason behind them. I can slap the hell out of someone also, doesen't mean anything in a fight.

The theory is that you can get power by using your arms in a flail-like manner - like you're 'hitting them with your arm', instead of 'punching', because a human arm is actually quite heavy in itself. At least that's how I understand it...

Well someone at Systema HQ doesn't study the history of warfar. Flail weapons traditionally suck. Spears and maces win the day usually.

Either way, the sparring was inadequately live. I'm not even sure if the Systema guy is swinging anywhere near without gloves, and if the kickboxer even wants to hit as hard as that against someone who might cut him if he matches intensity. Oh well. Any effort is better than none, I suppose.

I think they're too busy watching guys like Fedor and Vovchanchyn use Russian fistfighting to conquer the world. The Systema guy's problem is that he's misappliying the principle.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that MMA-guy is a MT guy doing something like Gracie University.
