I think the black pieces player only gets a win if there is a draw in both the chess match and the boxing match.

Being able to think about chess and make moves in the time limit after a tough round of boxing is pretty much the whole point of the contest.
If a draw occurs AND there is a tie on the boxing score cards, then the player with the black pieces wins. I don't know any stats about how often this happens, but my gut feeling is that it's very rare.Last edited by hapkido_keith; 8/14/2011 2:01am at .

Yeah, I get that, just looking at the rules seems like there is a lot of room for DQ though. I damn sure wouldn't be any good at this... Speed chess is hard enough without getting punched in the head.
I'm sure it is quite rare, but surely they could think of a better tie breaker. -
